brooklyn bridge at night from pier 17

first friday night in nyc!
met up with fellow cali friends for free 'camera obscura' concert and some crappy pizza. (it really is a loss to eat bad pizza in nyc considering all the amazing pizza available) amazing weather, even better view.
After moving to the large apple on monday followed by three whirlwind days of job scrambling and a housing safari - i took friday to explore. Strangely enough i didn't even touch manhattan until that first thursday evening, a full four days after moving. Partially because i was so focused on finding housing in brooklyn, partly because i became enthralled in the adventures provided by brooklyn, a place i have never explored before and by the deliciously ethnic neighborhoods of astoria where i am temporarily staying. And then lastly because i had a lot of phone calls to make, finishing touches on a quick portfolio - chores basically that i was anxious to get done before letting loose. So Friday became my first and wonderful day of adventures IN manhatten - and it turns out, a totally and entirely free free free day.
The photo above from the free concert was the last stop. The first stop was Vere chocolate company/factory in midtown, has a free sampling and showroom on fridays. http://www.veregoods.com/ My favorite was the peppercorn - but mostly because of the color combinations. All organic, all dark chocolates, single origin, they work exclusively with on farm that produces only for them. So technically a confectioner, but one in full control. Oh and it's on the sixth floor in the middle of an enormous city which stuck me as very odd for a factory.

Second stop was the moma. Richard Serra exhibit. Awesome sculpturist, the colors and weathering make my mouth water. Pictures do better than words.

also there..... contemporary artist/cartoonist http://www.perjovschi.ro/ (lives and works in bucharest) where!?!?!?!

answer: romania
exhibit titled: what happened to us? description: political/observational sketches of american life/ways/culture/habits/politics, etc. DRAWN on the entire four-story wall in the central circulation "courtyard". cranes were used....which makes it that much more awesome. covered and yet still compositional as a whole.
new york is awesome.
